In the summer of 2021 I was back in my home town visiting my parents, and to be perfectly honest with you I did not want to visit my parents church. The church was known for manipulation and spiritual abuse and just a place I would never want any believer going.
I was thirsty for God and was looking to experience Him amung other believers. I checked Google and of course every church was rated close to 5 stars but I was looking for a specific "flavor" of worship.
I didn't want to have to physically walk in each church and introduce myself etc etc, and I thought to myself, "what if there was a website that indexed churches?". What if there was a website I could go to that categorized the thousands of churches in American cities? Hence the birth of the RateThatChurch project.
We've all been there. Spiritual abuse, too wierd, not wierd enough. We just know that we need to get to God but we want to find our tribe
We have taken on the task of indexing ministries and churches around the world. We want to dive into what makes a church a church and what makes "worship" worship and break those elements down into categories and attain direct feedback from the members.
This is a big task that requries oversight and responsibility. We plan on forming a board in order to figure out what questions do we need to ask
